While I had established what Melia's postgame living situation is like, I hadn't gone into the details of how it came about. That's what this fic is about.
From the beginning, I'd wanted Melia's house to be common yet unusual. Common in that it's mostly a bog-standard bungalow out in the middle of nowhere; unusual in that it sits within the impact crater of a meteorite of pure ether. Of course, the concept of meteorites is alien in this world, so it's not recognised as that - it's just some weird ring of mountains.
Some time after writing this, I felt that I short-changed Melia a bit by not giving her a fuller two-storey house. Luckily, the potential fix is easy: wait a few years for her to outgrow it, and have her live in New Alcamoth for a few months while it gets rebuilt. I dunno if a future fic will ever explore this, but it's possible. (Somewhat relatedly, Alternate Goddess gives her this bigger house at the outset.)
